I first discovered my love of dresses in my grandmother’s closet, surrounded by gowns that were decades sometimes centuries  old. In that same room, lined with family photos, she would host elaborate tea parties for all of her granddaughters. On her finest china, with fancy cookies she baked herself, we’d dress up, twirl, and imagine ourselves as little queens. Those moments taught me something profound: clothing can carry history, meaning, and care, lessons I carry into every Rebecca Elizabeth dress.

After working as a designer for several fashion brands in New York, I began to see a troubling pattern: the magic and humanity behind clothing were being stripped away in favor of speed, profit, and trends. During the pandemic, I had sleepless nights and realized that I wasn’t fully expressing my potential or working in a way that honored my values. I knew I had to create something different  something slow, ethical, and deeply intentional.

About a year after launching Rebecca Elizabeth, I faced a defining challenge. I was eight months pregnant, working with a woman-owned ethical factory I trusted completely, and suddenly, the owner left for two months, leaving an intern in charge. Orders collapsed  the wrong sizes, mismatched pieces, and misplaced labels. I spent hours measuring every garment, correcting mistakes, and ensuring each dress met my standards. That moment was exhausting, terrifying, and transformative.

It was then that I realized I had to build Rebecca Elizabeth my way. I started my own design studio, collaborating directly with skilled artisans and making garments that reflected care, precision, and intention. Every dress became a testament to thoughtful, human-centered fashion.

Today, Rebecca Elizabeth produces made-to-order dresses in natural fibers, crafted sustainably and carefully for women who value timeless style and ethical production. Using a blend of craftsmanship and digital pattern-making, we minimize waste while offering customization that’s precise and meaningful. Our mission is simple: to make women feel celebrated, confident, and valued in pieces that carry the care, history, and intention they deserve.

I’m Rebecca Bush, and Rebecca Elizabeth is my vision brought to life, a slow fashion brand where craft meets care, and where every woman who wears our dresses becomes part of our story.
